The Aroma Of Worship-Holy Anointing Oil
The Aroma of Worship - Holy Anointing Oil
(Myrrh, Cinnamon Bark, Cassia, Aromatic Cane)
PREPARE YOUR SURROUNDINGS
Find a quite room and set up your diffuser with distilled water. Add 4 drops of Myrrh, 2 drops of Cinnamon Bark, and 4 drops of Cassia, Aromatic Cane is an oil called Calamus. Young Living does not sell Calamus. That's okay though, because we are not trying to produce the exact aroma: rather we want to get the general idea. If you don't have Cinnamon Bark simply add a few drops of Frankincense in its place. Start your diffuser and let it run for a few minutes before you get started
PREPARE YOUR HEART AND MIND
Get comfortable and breathe in the aroma for a few moments. Clear your mind of cares that take away your attention from Christ. Breathe in and out slowly. Allow your senses to fully experience the aroma. Let the tension go out of your body and begin to focus your attention on Christ. Breathe in and out slowly. Allow your senses to fully experience the aroma. Let the tension go out of your body and begin to focus your attention on Christ. Spend some time in prayer and adoration.
Celebrate God in your own heart and worship Him. Thank Him for His blessing of senses. Consider all of the ways that your senses are a blessing to you daily. As you are wrapping up this time of prayer, transition into the following passage. meditate on it. Read it out loud repeatedly and let the words resonate with you until you have a keen awareness of what it is saying both in your heart, and in your mind; then, move on to the devotional.
GOD'S WORD
The Lord said to Moses. 'Take the finest spices: of liquid myrrh 500 shekels, and of sweet-smelling cinnamon half as much, that is, 250, and 250 of aromatic cane, and 500 of cassia, according to the shekels of the sanctuary, an a hin of olive oil. And you shall make of these a sacred anointing oil blended as by the perfumer; it shall be a holy anointing oil. With it you shall anoint the tent of meeting and the ark of the testimony, and the altar of incense, and the altar of burnt offering with all its utensils and the basin and its stand.
You shall consecrate them, that they may be the most holy. Whatever touches them will become holy. You shall anoint Aaron and his sons, and consecrate them, that they may serve me as priests. And you shall say to the people of Israel. ' This shall be my holy anointing throughout your generations. It shall not be poured on the body of an ordinary person, and you shall make no other like it in composition. It is holy, and it shall be holy to you. Whoever compounds any like it or whoever puts any of it on an outsider shall be cut off from his people." Exodus 30:22-33
